During my entire pregnancy I measured smaller than average. At my 34 week appointment I measured much less than normal so the doctor ordered an ultrasound, turns out the baby was frank breech(butt down, feet by face). I was sent home with instructions to do these crazy exercises...get on all fours, arch your back like a cat and rock back and forth. I had another ultrasound a 37 weeks to see if the baby had got into the correct position and he did! At my 39 week appointment doc scheduled my induction for August 17th at 12pm(a full week past my due date). At 40 weeks I had already made enough progress on my own and had "lost my plug" so Dr. Mathus changed my arrival time to 6am. I was so aggravated that he kept moving things back but since I was already fully effaced and dialated to 2+ there was no need to go to the hospital earlier.
Saturday morning, August 15th, I woke up a little "wet." It was one of those did I really pee my pants moments. I told Josh about it and we decided I should go to work and see what happens. I didn't have many appointments since no one wants to get their hair done by an overdue pregnant lady! When I got home I read over the paperwork on what to do if you think your water broke. So I laid on the floor with my feet in the air for 30 minutes and then stood up. NOTHING.
Sunday morning, August 16th, same thing...I was a little "wet." I knew I didn't pee this time. It took untill about 10am before I decided to call the hospital. They told me to come up and they would check things out. Neither Josh or I were in a big hurry and felt kind of stupid since I was scheduled to go in the next day but I was concerned that the baby wasn't getting what it needed. Josh loaded up the car and off to Belleville. We stopped at Hardees for lunch and to the hospital we went. After I got admitted and up to OB they did confirm that my water had broke and they called Dr. Frank,(who wasn't my doc and I had only met him once)he was on call and he said to go ahead and get things going. The nurse told me I could get the epidural whenever I wanted it, as she started the pitocin around 2:30. Calls and messages went out to
everyone to let them know we were at the hospital.
Since my water was already broke they could not continue to check me since it could cause an infection. I'm thinking it was about 6pm when I decided that the contractions were bad enough and it was time for the good drugs. Little did I know that Mr. Epidural wasn't at the hospital waiting for me. Since it was a Sunday he had to be called in. After waiting for a century and 3 times of sticking me with the needle, it was done and I felt great!

Josh's parents, my parents, and sister were all there by now waiting for the baby. I'm not sure when the pressure really kicked in but I was talking with my Mom and telling her something wasn't right. My major concern was that my epidural wasn't taking evenly because I had to lay on my side due to the baby's heart rate. My Mom talked to the nurse and she check me, then said "Honey, you are ready!" Not long after that Dr. Frank showed up and I started to push. 19 mintues later and with the help of the vacuum, Ty Joshua Voss came into this world at 10:46pm(sunny side up). When they layed him on me, all I could think about was how tiny he was. He weighed 6 lbs 7oz and was 19 1/2 inches long.
Josh went to go tell everyone that our little baby boy was here and they all made their way into the room.
